- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪I have since been to a much better orthodontist. I wasn't crazy about this ortho back when I was in high school. Although I had braces for less than a year, the problem was that she took them off too soon. Yes, my overbite and crooked top teeth were fixed but she removed my braces with the lower front teeth overlapped and crowded (they used to be perfectly straight). She said the post-braces retainer would correct it. I wore it as I should have and it made the crowding worse. It broke 3 times in the next 2 years and my parents couldn't pay for any new retainers after that. After I stopped wearing it, my teeth stopped crowding! Pretty sure it was making things worse the whole time. Now, I have compared my orthodontics to other people I know with perfect teeth. The others had their braces on longer until everything was perfect including getting a bar cemented across the back of the lower front teeth to prevent shifting of teeth in the future (and a real retainer for the top: smaller, invisalign style). They don't even have to wear a lower retainer and they love it. My new ortho says she should not have taken the lower braces off until it was perfect.December 19, 2016by A Google User
